Steel Building Insulation

When constructing a steel building, most people tend to skip insulations in the building process. Though, not every steel structure require insulation, if you live in the area with extreme climatic condition or want to save some money on heating and cooling gadgets, you can always explore the insulation options. They are not only important to maintain a comfortable interior temperature but, it is also essential for your structure to last for generations.

Steel building insulation helps to deflect heat in summer and keep heat in during the winter to stabilize the interior temperature. On top of that, insulation in steel structure helps to prevent condensation by creating barrier throughout the roof and walls of your building. Condensation is one of the cause of rust, which is a greater threat in long term. So, you must insulate your building for efficient thermal control and save from corrosion and rusting.

The common mistake a first time builder and customer make is, not to account correct type of insulation or even consider insulating the building at all. But at least, you should install insulation in the roof of the building and if you live in places where there is diverse weather patterns, then insulating the walls is strongly recommended. For example, if you live in the area where snow piles up against the wall, then insulating the wall is very important. The insulation is installed by sandwiching it between the sheeting and building skeleton, which stops the steel to steel contact and prevent from the adverse effect of the snow on the steel building.

There are varieties of insulation in the market and some of the best option for steel structure are batt and blanket, spray foam insulation and bubble insulation. The factor to consider while choosing insulation is its ability to resist heat flow which, is measured in R-value. The higher the number, better it is at resisting heat flow. The other factor to consider, is the insulation facing type – it is the surface that you can see inside your building. There are varieties of facing from foil to low visibility/from athletic facing to standard white. You can always consult with the team of Himalayan steel and choose according to your need!
